Heartland Tours

Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

Where and when will the tour start?

Heartland Tours will collect you at your accommodation at a time that suits your needs. This will allow you plenty time to enjoy breakfast and prepare for the day ahead.

How do we decide where we go?

Our website presents a number of day tour or multi day tours around Scotland but these are only our suggestions. It’s your choice where we go. You can give us a call or drop us an e-mail to discuss where you would like to visit and we will arrange the route and duration accordingly. We have routes capable of taking you to the Isle of Skye or John o’ Groats in a day and have you back in time for dinner.

When will we return to our accommodation?

The choice is yours! It’s all down to where you want to visit on your tour. The minimum booking is for 6 hours but there is no limit as to how long your day is. However, even on a full day tour, we would plan to have you back in time for dinner.  We can provide tours further afield where we change accommodation providers as part of the adventure.  Prices re available on application.

What should I bring with me for Day Tours?

As the weather varies day to day in the Highlands we recommend you bring a waterproof jacket. It’s also good to bring along walking shoes/boots as we may stop off and enjoy a stroll in the beautiful environment of Scotland. Of course remember your camera!

What about food and refreshments?

We have identified numerous places that provide good quality food and refreshments to suit your diet and budget. We can discuss this when we plan your personal tour. We will provide drinking water in the vehicle.

What is the weather going to be on the day?

That’s a great question, in Scotland we have needed sun cream in October and hats and gloves in July! There is always a chance of rain but that’s why Scotland is so green and beautiful. We will be aware of the weather forecast for your day and will advise accordingly. Sun cream and umbrellas will be on hand (and face!).

Will we be travelling with other guests?

Definitely not! That’s one of the many attractions of Heartland Tours. Its your exclusive and executive tour. Our experience has shown that guests may fall in love with a place and want to spend more time exploring and discovering the location. It’s your personal tour allowing you to decide where we go and how long we stay. You can even change your route on the day.

How do I book a day trip with Heartland Tours?

Your first point of contact may be through our website’s quick enquiry process but feel free to simply give us a call on our landline or mobile +44 (0)1796 472911 or +44 (0) 7773886035.  Email -  eddie@heartlandtours.co.uk

How do I pay for my tour?

Payment is usually made via UK bank cheque or bank transfer. To confirm a booking simply send us an email or give us a call. The total cost of the tour will depend on how long you stay with us (minimum 6 hours). I will send you the Heartland Tours’ bank details once you wish to formally confirm the booking. If the booking is at short notice, we will arrange a payment method that suits your needs either through your accommodation provider or via our local bank.

When are the tours available?

The tours will be available throughout the year. However, if for any reason, such as heavy snow or flooding, Heartland Tours have to cancel the adventure, we will provide a FULL refund and try and/or arrange an alternative date.

Are children welcome?

We welcome children.  However, from personal and professional experience, touring around Scotland may not be the first choice of some kids.  Our very large BMW car is built to carry six passengers.  One passenger in the front, three in the middle and two in the rear seat.  The majority of our tours include long, hilly and bendy (and simply beautiful) roads which will not suit anyone who suffers from travel sickness.  For optimum comfort we would suggest a maximum of four passengers. I have kids and from a personal and professional experience, a long 'Road Trip' is not always appreciated.

What is the cost per hour?

The cost is from £65.00 per hour based on two passengers with a minimum tour of 6 hours. The fee may vary based on weekends,  high season, pick-up point and of course, number of passengers. There is no maximum time limit to the tour but we would aim to have you at your accommodation provider in time for dinner.

What does the price of the tour include?

The cost of the tour includes the transport and the services of the driver/guide. It does not include food, refreshments or admission charges to any venue. Some venues are free whilst others have a charge. I can explain to you these additional charges once you have selected where you want to go.

What type of vehicle will we be travelling in?

Heartland Tours operate a large 7Series BMW.  This is a very comfortable, high spec vehicle which has excellent vision and three large sunroofs to allow you to take in the scenery whilst travelling.
